Malaysia World Band Competition

Test DThe Malaysia World Band Competition ("Malaysia WBC") is a premier band competition in Asia. The Malaysia World Band Competition brings together some of the best bands from around the world to compete in this prestigious marching band competition. The Malaysia WBC 2010 will feature world class marching bands performing in their best performance musically combined with exciting choreography and moves.
 
The Malaysia WBC 2010 is expected to be bigger and better this year. Spanning from 24 - 31 July 2010 and will be held in Shah Alam, Johor Bahru and Nusajaya during the competition period. The Malaysia WBC 2010 promises dazzling and best of the best performance from participating bands converging in Malaysia for what is to be one of the most prestigious marching band competitions in Asia.
 
The Malaysia WBC is sanctioned by Malaysia Band Association and supported by Drum Corps Europe.
 
CompetitionWORLD BAND CHAMPIONSHIP (WBC)

Malaysia World Band Competition (MWBC) was initiated in 2009 and is open to all marching/show bands regardless of the nature of music, performances and type of bands. This inaugural event was the first of its kind whereby the event was organized in two different states within Malaysia. The combined support from Government and Private Sectors have encouraged youths in participate in this carnival-atmospheric competition.

Starting from year 2010, The MWBC model will be extended to the following respective countries – Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand & South Africa. The respective countries event organizers will promote and organize band competition involving the participation of community and school band throughout their country.

The selected winners from the competitions from each countries mentioned above will participate in the Grand Finals for the elusive “World Band Champion” honor. This will be known as “THE WORLD BAND CHAMPIONSHIP (WBC)”. This is a brand new championship and in the coming years, the number of participation is expected to be expanded globally to other countries, representing from five different continents.
 
Hence, this sets the stage for the emergence of the FIRST WORLD BAND CHAMPIONSHIP, which is the brain-child of ZI Production Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian Incorporated Company who is specialized in organizing band competitions.

More than 35 years of experience in the field of marching and drum corps. Worked with several units to success in different countries. Has extensive management and consultancy skills and speaks a number of languages fluently. Founder and owner of Wilbicom BV, a Dutch consultancy agency for the telecoms industry.

 

Benny Prasetyo - Indonesia

Mr. Benny Prasetyo has gained over 30 years of experience through his involvement in marching band activities and programmes. He has worked and coached for several top corps in Indonesia . Mr. Benny Pasetyo is also a Competition Director/Co-chief of Judges for Grand Prix Marching Band (GPMB), Indonesia . He founded LPK. Wahana Media Karya, Subang-Indonesia, an Information Technology training institution and Owner of Concerto Enterprise, Bandung-Indonesia, a Marching Band consultancy and services company.

Harry Cahyono - Indonesia

Mr. Harry Cahyono has more than 30 years of experience in the marching band field. He has collaborated with several top corps and steered them to many successes in Indonesia . Mr. Harry Cahyono is currently Vice President of Grand Prix Marching Band (GPMB), Indonesia .

 

 

Sukit Wongchitsukkasem - Thailand

Mr. Sukit, a Thai national, obtained his bachelor degree in Western Music from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand in 2001 and since then had been engaging himself as brass section tutor and band conductor for many concert and marching bands in Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

Ensembles under his direction grew in both size and quality. Through this he had earned numerous honours and awards both national and international recognition. He had previously been invited to serve as adjudicator for several competitions and music festivals which include The Royal Cup Concert & Marching Band Contest, Thailand, Selangor Marching Band Competition 2006, Malaysia and DMC Marching Band Competition 2009 Jakarta, Indonesia.
