“Developing and sharing good quality music through Wind Band Ensembles; Singapore and beyond”

On behalf of Wind Bands Association of Singapore, our co-organiser the National Institute of Education and the Festival Artistic Advisory Council, I would like to invite you and your band to share with us this vision at the Singapore International Band Festival 2010.

WBASingapore (formerly WASBE Singapore) is a non-profit organisation started in 2001 to promote wind band activities and raise the standard of band education and performance through various initiatives such as concerts, workshops and band festivals.

The inaugural festival in 2008 brought about a new movement to the region’s band scene for which bands of various nationality, cultures and performance level gathered for an international exchange of musical ideas and ideals.

With the various components in this second series of the Festival-- Competition, International Band Exchange, Workshops and Outreach Programme, we aim to promote band activities beyond schools and provide a platform where band members continuously strive for excellence to raise the standard of bands in Singapore and abroad.

Through the Workshops and Band Exchange, band members will also get an opportunity to understand and experience the dynamic and developments of quality wind music in Singapore and around the world. We also hope for bands to join us in spreading the joy of music by sharing it with the community through the Outreach Programme.

I wish you a fruitful and inspiring experience in your music making endeavour, at this Band Festival and beyond.
